Liberation
I'm at camp right now. And it's liberating.
For some people, liberation comes when they get to shut off their phone. I can understand that. They can be hard to tear yourself from.
For me? It's my keys. I know I'm free when I don't have to touch them. It means I don't have to drive, lock anything up, have responsibility. My legs are able to move freely without the rhythmic banging of cut metal reminding me that I have to lock things up and drive places. I am able to leave a room without looking around to make sure I haven't left my keys somewhere. I have freedom. And freedom feels really nice.
