Unholy Union
Last week the Bishop NT Wright showed up on The Colbert Report. I have to admit that seeing him on there was pretty shocking. He does have a new book out, however. Comedy Central's "newscasts" are a good place to go if you need to get the word out on your book.
I'm not convinced that this particular show is the best platform for Bishop Wright to explain his ideas. It's tough to present a shift in the paradigm of heaven in a 6 minute interview where the host is constantly wise-cracking. But I will give the Bishop a lot of credit for proving that you can be both funny and deep, and that deep religious thinkers need not take themselves so seriously all of the time.
I also have to give it up to Colbert. This is perhaps one of his best performances. If you need more, then check out the rest of the highlights from this particular episode. Cookie Monster made an appearance that is absolutely classic.
